Factory Raised Side Rails: No crossbars. Run front to back on the outer edges of your roof with some clearance between the vehicle and the rail
Factory Crossbars: Also known as load bars, they run side to side and are attached to factory side rails
Rain Gutters: Thin channels that run from the front windshield to the rear, on each side of the roof, near the tops of the doors

Yakima roof racks feature round load bars for holding your roof-mounted bike rack or other outdoor sporting equipment. Featuring feet that mount to the large variety of different vehicle roofs, there are even foot packs with extra height when you want to have more clearance between the rack and the roof of your car. If your car’s roof has rails stretching from the front to back of it but no crossbars, you can still have a high-quality base roof rack system by adding Yakima crossbars with the appropriate foot pack. Once installed, your Yakima roof rack will be able to accommodate a roof bike rack, cargo carrier, or combination of the two. If you need to increase the load capacity of your roof rack or modify it to better fit your car’s shorter length roof, then Yakima also has the accessories you need to accomplish that and to further modify any of the base roof rack systems to fit your needs.
